Welcome. The National Resident Services Collaborative was established by several national, regional and local community development organizations to improve and increase the delivery of resident services for families in affordable housing.

Members are: Enterprise, NeighborWorks America®, Alamo Area Mutual Housing Association, American Association of Service Coordinators, The Community Builders, Community Preservation and Development Corporation, The Housing Partnership Network, Mercy Housing, National Church Residences, The Neighborhood Partnership Fund, Preservation of Affordable Housing, REACH CDC, Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future

Approximately five million families live in affordable rental housing. More than four million federally assisted rental housing units are occupied by families whose annual incomes are below 30% of the area median. Another one million of those residents are the working poor, whose incomes are less than 50% of the area median. Most families living in affordable rental housing are headed by single women, and more than 50% of the heads of the households are unemployed and lack a high school diploma.

Many low-income families living in affordable housing need social services of the kind found in supportive or transitional housing – job training and placement, child care, and other social services — as well as help ridding their communities of crime and drug abuse. However, they do not qualify as needing intensive social services through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and other sources, available for the homeless and handicapped.
